We always circulate new reviews and updates via Twitter (@CochranePaPaS). At February 2017, we have over 4000 Followers. We also encourage author teams to share their reviews via Twitter, Weibo, Facebook, and other social media platforms, to increase their reach and impact.
Authors are encouraged to consider their dissemination plans when preparing their Review Proposal Form (see p9 on the form). We ask for details of their planned target audience, method(s) of communication, and social media platform(s).
Upon publication, authors are encouraged to send us any 'impact stories' that occur as a result of their review or update. We are keen to collate this information for our annual reporting to our funders, the UK's National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).
We work with the Cochrane Communications and External Affairs Department (CEAD) to prepare key reviews for dissemination. This can often involve liaising with the media, and we provide support to author teams when necessary. Authors are free to complete a Dissemination Checklist at any time, available to download here. The earlier a dissemination plan is agreed, the more time we have to prepare in advance of publication.
We produce blogs, blogshots, podcasts and review summaries, and also provide support for authors to complete these tasks, too.
